Features roundup

Release Notes

The new features, depreciations and known issues are documented in the release notes

Updating

This is a major update please read updated the documentation prior to performing the upgrade. Ensure you have a disk level backup and have confirmed that you can successfully restore this backup. Plan a large change window to perform the upgrade.

Users who want to move from BIOS to UEFI should use the new install upgrade method as the in-place upgrade cannot convert a BIOS system to UEFI.

Two upgrade paths are available:

  • In-place upgrade
  • New install upgrade

In-place upgrade

The in-place upgrade will upgrade your system in place and retain all your data. A script to automate this process is provided. This is an interactive script so it does require user input at different stages.

New install upgrade

This path requires you to generate a restore file which you then use to restore some of your data on a new install. All settings and database information will be restored. Emails in the quarantine will not be restored. You can manually restore those from the disk image backup that you must take before starting the upgrade.

You need to download a restore creation script to your system and run that script. The script will generate a restore script which you copy to a safe location.

You then perform a new installation of BaruwaOS 9.8 wiping out your current system. After installation you copy the restore script to the new server and execute it.

The script will restore your data and configure the system for you.

Support

As always 8x5 email support is available to all Enterprise Edition customers, should you run into any issues feel free to email support.
